Huawei unveiled its Ascend Mate 7 phablet at this year's IFA in Berlin. This device resembles HTC One Max a whole lot, which many of you pointed out via the comments. The device features a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display and comes in 2 RAM variants. 2GB variant is available with 16 or 32GB of internal storage while the 3GB variant comes with 32GB of internal storage. Both variants have microSD card slot and you can expand their storage with up to 32GB. The device is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 925 octa-core processor (quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 and quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7) along with Mali-T628 for graphics processing. 13-megapixel can be found at the back fo the device while there's a 5-megapixel shooter up front. This phablet comes with 4100mAh non-removable battery and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, though the OS has Huawei's own EMUI 3.0 on top of it which gets more serious with every new iteration.
As I said, many of you pointed out (including myself) this thing resembles the HTC One Max a whole lot, not only because of its design and metallic build but because of the fingerprint scanner. Yeah, this thing also has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner which is located below the camera. The device will be available in China starting September 13, we're talking about a dual SIM model here. The basic model will be priced at 3,499 yuan (approximately $570) while the one with more RAM will cost you 3,999 yuan (approximately $650). This device actually packs a lot of punch and the price reflects it. We still don't know where else (or when) will Huawei offer this device outside of China, hopefully they'll share some information soon. This device is well built, no doubt about it. I'm not exactly a phablet kinda guy so this is definitely not for me, but for those of you who prefer metallic phones and find HTC One Max unsuitable for your needs for one reason or the other, this might be a nice alternative.
