HTC Desire 816G To Launch In India In October For Rs 18,990

It's been an eventful month for HTC fans so far. The big news of the month so far was the news that HTC could definitely be the makers behind the next Nexus device, the Nexus 9. There was of course also the news that HTC were not making a smartwatch and the more recent rumour-news that HTC may be in the process of developing their very own version of Glass. If you haven't had enough HTC news so far this month here is another little news-fix to keep you going. Back in February of this year HTC announced their mid-range device the HTC Desire 816 which was then eventually released in April. It now seems HTC are about to unleash a cheaper version of the 816 in India, the Desire 816G. In spite of this being a cheaper alternative to the normal 816 a lot of the specs seem to be the same. For instance, both versions offer the same size screen (and resolution), the same internal storage, the same battery as well as the same MP front and rear cameras. It seems the main differences between the two devices is the replacing of the 816's Snapdragon processor with a MediaTek processor and also a slight drop in RAM from 1.5 GB down to 1 GB.

The Desire 816G offers a 5.5" screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution. Inside the device is loaded with 1 GB RAM and a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor. The rear camera provided consists of a 13 MP camera (with 1080 HD recording) and a 5 MP front facing shooter (720 recording). If storage matters than the device comes with 8 GB of internal storage along with a standard micro SD card for additional storage. The device is dual-SIM compatible and will also come with a reasonable 2,600 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and will run on Android 4.4 (KitKat) although accompanied with HTC Sense 6.

The Desire 816G is not expected to hit the shops in India until the first half of October, although when it does it is will be released in five colours (Black, White, Red, Green and Purple). For those of you in India who are interested in picking up one, the device is expected to sale for Rs 18,990 which for everyone else is roughly $310. So, how does the baby brother to the Desire 816 sound? Anyone interested? Anyone going to pick one up?
