You may remember that last year, Google published a collection of Beautifully designed apps and games on the Play Store for the summer. Well today, they are updating that collection for Summer 2014. They also updated it last winter, but this is the Summer 2014 edition of the Beautiful Design Collection. There are lots of great apps in this collection as well.
“Today, we’re refreshing the Beautiful Design collection with our latest favorite specimens of delightful design from Google Play. As a reminder, the goal of this collection is to highlight beautiful apps with masterfully crafted design details such as beautiful presentation of photos, crisp and meaningful layout and typography, and delightful yet intuitive gestures and transitions.”
Some of the apps in the collection this year include Gogobot, Oyster, Flight Track 5, Vivino Wine Scanner, Yahoo News Digest, FIFA, Spotify, Duolingo and a few others. There are a few here that we haven’t heard of before, but will definitely be checking out. Here’s a few reasons why these apps were chosen.
“Flight Track 5, whose gorgeously detailed flight info, full of maps and interactive charts, stylishly keeps you in the know. Gogobot, an app whose bright colors and big images make exploring your next city delightful and fun. Airbnb, a veteran of the collection from this past winter, remains as they continue to finesse their app.”
Google also explains their reasoning for picking the others on their blog post, which you can check out in the source link below. It’s always fun checking out new apps. Especially ones with beautiful and unique designs, which is exactly what this list does. It’s kind of surprising to see that they didn’t list any apps with material design in there, but they may be saving that for a specific list when Android L is out and available. I’d definitely like to see a list of Material Design apps though.
