It's great to see more and more apps getting support for Android Wear. And to be honest, we didn't expect Comcast to add support for quite some time. But nonetheless, it looks like Comcast has begun adding in Android Wear support to their Xfinity X1 Remote App. It is still in beta, so there are likely to be plenty of bugs and such. But it is there which means you can control your TV from your Moto 360, LG G Watch or Samsung Gear Live. Which is pretty sweet.
To get started you can tap your Android Wear smartwatch and simply say "Start X1 Remote". You can also do things like "Record", or "Show me what's on HBO". Which are all pretty cool things to be able to do. Of course, you can also bring up the regular remote buttons as well and use them from your watch. Which is pretty neat and cool. Imagine being able to control your entire TV from your watch. Not just Comcast, but you already have Chromecast controls built in as well. Pretty neat, right?
The update to the Comcast Xfinity X1 Remote App should be available in the Play Store right now, if not give it a few hours and it should be rolled out to everyone. Since Android Wear launched, we've seen the number of apps that support it double and maybe even triple already. And we are just a few months into Android Wear. It'll be real interesting to see what happens once Android L comes out since that should have a whole lot more functionality to Android Wear, like better watch faces.
