It’s IFA 2014 over in Berlin, Germany and while Samsung and Sony made a lot of noise with new flagship devices, we didn’t quite get the full skinny on how much they were going to cost. That’s often the case when it comes to these newly released devices, and we can’t blame Samsung or Sony for not spilling the beans on price onstage, after all it’s more about the device than how much it’s going to cost you. Still, it would be nice to know how much either an Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact is going to cost. We already know that the UK’s largest network is to feature both devices as well as the Xperia E3, but now Clove UK has come out and let everyone know how much an unlocked version is going to cost you.
Our UK readers will tell you that Clove UK is a place to buy expensive smartphones unlocked and outright, making them, more expensive. This time around however, neither the Xperia Z3 or the Z3 Compact seem all that ridiculously priced here. We’ll just cut to the chase here, the Xperia Z3 is to cost £525 including VAT and the Xperia Z3 Compact is to cost £420 including VAT. While these prices do seem pretty steep, we need to remember that these are for unlocked devices and both of them feature some pretty impressive specs. They’re both powered by a Snapdragon 801 at 2.5 Ghz, both have 3GB of RAM and they both feature the stunning 20.7-megapixel camera that is easily one of the best shooters in a smartphone today.
Of course, the Xperia Z3 still isn’t that much of an upgrade over the Z2 and you can pick one of those up from Clove UK for £400 including VAT, and it still features 3GB of RAM, albeit with a slightly slower Snapdragon 801 CPU. What do you think to these prices? Have Sony once again priced their devices too high or are these reasonable? The Xperia Z3 Compact and its 4.6-inch display certainly gives haters of large phones something to think about that’s for sure.
