Amazon Quietly Allows Fire TV To Be Pre-Ordered In UK And Germany

We are getting word that Amazon has just made a pretty significant announcement regarding their Fire TV set-top-box. In a private press event taking place at IFA, Amazon has just announced that the Fire TV is now available to pre-order in the UK as well as Germany, two huge markets that will surely boost Fire TV sales exponentially. Everything will essentially be the same between the US version and this version of the Fire TV besides some obvious differently localized partners based off each country. That means buyers in the UK and Germany can also enjoy features such as using the Kindle Fire Tablet as a secondary screen and having Amazon Prime sewn into the Fire TV experience.

Both of these new regions will also have their own localized version of the Fire TV app that will offer localized services. For example, for the UK, Demand 5 for Channel 5's catch up service. And of course, Twitch, the video game streaming service that Amazon recently purchased. If you aren't familiar with the Amazon Fire TV and were now thinking of picking one up, here is a little help. The Fire TV is Amazon's version of a set-top-box, a device that hooks up to your TV and offers you shows from many different services such as Netflix and Hulu. There are many of these devices out there which makes it very difficult to stand out but Amazon has seemed to do just that with the Fire TV. How is this? Well the specs might help a little and are as follows: It sports a Quad-core processor, Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB of memory, Wi-Fi support, Support for full-HD streaming, HDMI and optical audio-out, and 7.1 Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.

From the specs list alone you can see why the Fire TV is succeeding in such a crowded market. Having high-end specs like it does gives it a huge upper hand against competitors like the Apple TV. If you are in the market for a new set-top-box then the Fire TV should be one of your top choices. Especially with features like voice search built right into the remote of the device, a feature that has yet to be rivaled. If you happen to live in the UK or Germany and have been patiently waiting for the Amazon Fire TV, you can purchase them here at or Also be sure to stay posted to Android Headlines for all your Amazon Fire TV news.
