ALCATEL ONETOUCH Announces the HERO 2 with a 6-inch Full HD Display and Stylus

ALCATEL ONETOUCH introduces their new Hero 2 smartphone today at IFA Berlin, stating that it will be available this month.  The new Hero 2 is slim and stylish with an aluminum body that should feel great in your hand.  The Hero 2 is more than just a smartphone according to ALCATEL ONETOUCH - it also acts as a hub for a variety of companion devices that users can carry, keep on their desk or connect to their TV, creating its own ecosystem. The Hero 2 also comes with its own Stylus, like the Samsung Galaxy Note series, to use on the display to write notes or to exercise your artistic abilities.

There are a selection of MagicFlip covers that can be customized - MagicFlip DJ for music and MagicFlip LED that lights up with notifications about missed calls, alerts or the current time.  Sidekick 2 is a companion device that allows users to remotely control their TV and music as well as an extension to user's phones - they can access messages, contact lists and more.  The portable E-Card allows users to read notes, maps, e-books via the comfort of paper.  Another companion device, the SmartBook functions as a smartphone in laptop form, while TV-Link allows you to connect your Hero 2 wirelessly to your big screen TV.

The ALCATEL ONETOUCH Hero 2 sports a 6-inch Full HD IPS Display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 367 Pixels-Per-Inch (PPI).  The display is basically edge-to-edge and takes up 90-percent of the front of the phone.  Powering the Hero 2 is a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.  It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card to add an additional 32GB of memory.  The main camera is a 13.1MP shooter with autofocus and LED Flash and software: HDR, face and smile detection, touch focus, LTL panorama, Image and Video stabilizer (OIS + EIS).  The Hero 2 also packs a 5MP Front-Facing camera (FFC) for terrific video chatting and selfies.  A 3,100mAh battery powers the device and it is running Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.  It measures 160.5 x 81.6 x 7.9mm and weighs in at 175 grams.

ALCATEL ONETOUCH put a lot of thought into this device and is a step in the right direction if they hope to make a real statement in the flagship world.  No availability or carriers were announced, as well as no pricing - but we expect value from this manufacturer.  Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if the Hero 2 looks like a device that you might be interest in purchasing...as always, we would love to hear from you.
