Acer's Iconia One 8" Tablet Reaches The FCC And Closer To Its Release

A couple of weeks ago Acer formally introduced two new Acer tablets in the shape of the Acer Iconia Tab 10 and the Acer Iconia One 8. The latter of the two, the Iconia One 8 is the latest in Acer's 'One' series of tablets following on from the previous Iconia One 7. It now seems today the device took an extra step towards its US release. The device is now being listed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and going under the codename 'Vespa 8'. As we know, typically speaking once a device reaches this stage it normally doesn't take too much longer before a release date is announced and realized.

The details of the device are still quite limited although it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that as the name suggests, this newest addition is an 8" tablet. In addition, the display is expected to offer a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. The One 8 will also come loaded with an Intel Quad-core Bay Trail processor. The only other known features we can be sure of is that the device will come with a HDMI socket and a micro SD slot. The device will run on Android 4.4 (KitKat).

In spite of the limited information we do know quite a bit about the aesthetics of the device. During the launch Acer were quite eager to emphasis the back of the unit which contains a textured backing. This is primarily designed to offer users a better grip on the device due its anti-slip coating. The increased grip will be further accentuated by the fact that this is quite a light and small device. In addition to only being 8" in size the One 8 weighs only 340 grams and about a third of an inch in terms of thickness. The One 8 is also being touted as an individualistic tablet with the device expected to launch in ten different colors. If you are interested the color options offered are Jade Green, Sunshine Yellow, Vivid Orange, Sky Blue, Essential White, Midnight Black, Fragrant Pink, Violet Purple, Mia Blue and Garnet Red. So is anyone out there looking forward to the Vespa 8? Any particular color you will go for? As always, don't be shy and let us know what you think?
