Xiaomi has been rocking China's market structure for smartphones, starting with the low price compared to competing Samsung and HTC devices of the same caliber and quality and ending with the sales method the company uses. Xiaomi is famous and notorious for its 'flash sales' where users pre-register and login to the area's Xiaomi site, and when a certain time hits, the 'first-come-first-serve' model kicks into full effect. When that time hits, all the devices are available (usually somewhere in the low 5-digit numbers, for reference) for sale until they are sold, and that sold out popup happens within minutes of going on sale. India is getting another one of those flash sales.
In July, we reported that the first sale and sales figures (as well as sell-out time, as is traditional with Xiaomi) came in strong for the first Indian sales of the Xiaomi Mi 3. This next week, next Wednesday actually, August 12, there will be another sale. Just yesterday, Xiaomi sold out of 15,000 units in two seconds flat, and that crashed the Flipkart, the seller in India, site. In July, Xiaomi sold India its first 20,000 Mi 3's, and yesterday it offered up the next 15,000. The Mi 3 is a device that definitely, for the price of $389 USD (hold your jaw up about that for a second), warrants the hype and demand it has.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 is a beast of a phone, specification-wise, even though it's a year-old, already-upgraded (since the Mi 4 was announced the same day as the first Indian sale of the Mi 3) smartphone. The device has a 5-inch IPS LCD panel with 1920 by 1080 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core running along at a hefty 2.26 Ghz, aided by 2 GB of RAM, and accessing a whopping 64 GB of storage, as well as a 13-and-2 back-front camera array. The phone runs Xiaomi's custom skin, MIUI (pronounced Me-You-I, for Xiaomi User Interface, as some may not figure), which features a theme store that allows essentially ultimate visual customization of the device.
On to August 12's sale though. For those in India that want to get in on the sale, go register on Flipkart's site, to be able to buy the device at all. The sale is said to begin and open up at 2 p.m. India Standard Time (GMT +5:30), and setting up your Internet and logging in is recommended two of three hours before the sale begins, just to make sure your end is all primed and ready for the rushing flood of hopeful customers. As of right now, there are over 75,000 folks just like you registered for the sale, so hop on it, friend. Good luck and let us know in the comments if you would go for the Mi 3 or wait for the Mi 4.
