HP Slate 7 Coming in Beats Edition to Mexico

HP’s Slate 7 line of devices has steadily gotten better since they first launched last year, and while they’re still not great they do offer decent value for money. Now, it’d seem that a Beats Edition of the 7-inch Slate is headed to Mexico. This device is essentially a Tegra Note 7 in HP’s configuration, giving it a 7-inch 1280 x 800 display, a quad-core Tegra 4, 1GB of RAM, a stylus for pen input and stereo speakers around the front. For 4,090 Pesos it’s not too bad a deal, but that display resolution and Tegra 4 are beginning to look a little tired now.

Gionee Launch the GPad G5 for RS 14,999

GPad 5

While Gionee is more known for their crazy thin devices, they do make decent devices overall, and the successor to the GPad G4 hopes to be just that. The GPad G5 is a 5.5-inch Full HD device with a 1.5 Ghz hexa-core CPU under-the-hood along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable memory. It’s running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and there’s an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera all powered by a 2,400 mAh battery. For RS 14,999 this dualSIM device isn’t too highly priced, but better cameras might have been nice to see.

LG Launch the Gx2 with 5.7-inch Display and Laser Autofocus

LG Gx2

As we covered earlier in the week, LG is releasing yet another big-screen device this week in South Korea, the Gx2. It’s a 5.7-inch device built with the DNA of the G3, but not quite the same specs. The 5.7-inch display is a 720p affair and there’s a 1.2 Ghz quad-core CPU under-the-hood with 1.5GB of RAM all running Android 4.4.2 with LG’s new software on top. Around the back is where things get a little interesting as there’s an 8-megapixel camera that has the same laser autofocus as the G3 does, which is a nice feature for a device like this.

Huawei to Launch an Ascend P7 With Sapphire Display

P7 Sapphire

Next month is IFA 2014, and while we’re expecting big things from Samsung, HTC, Lenovo, Sony and others, but we might be seeing something from Huawei next month. A Sapphire version of the Ascend P7 is apparently launching over the next couple of months as a special edition that will be sold on the company’s Chinese website. Sapphire glass is apparently much less prone to scratches than Gorilla Glass and Dragontail glass, so it’ll be interesting to see how much more resilient the Sapphire version of the Ascend P7 is compared to the original.

Swipe Sense Launch Fingerprint Sensor-packing Phone in India

Swipe Finger

The Swipe Sense is an interesting device, with a 5-inch qHD display and a 1.3 Ghz quad-core CPU running Android KitKat, with some decent cameras and dual-SIM support. However, for those looking for security, the specs won’t matter that much as the Swipe Sense features a fingerprint sensor around the back of the device and it costs just RS 9,999.

LG L60 X-147 Listed Online in India

LG have been offering decent budget-minded headsets for quite a while now and the LG L60 X-147 looks to be their next device headed for India. The 4.3-inch 800 x 480 device has been listed online at Flipkart as the L60 Dual and it features a 1.3 Ghz dual-core CPU and is running Android 4.4 KitKat. A budget offering for sure, but for those looking for little else, this latest from LG could work for you just fine.
