It was just back on August 1 that we reported that Rogers, Bell, MTS, SaskTel and Videotron were starting to sell the new flagship device, the LG G3.  Prices ranged from $149.99 to $199.99 on a two-year contract or for $600 outright at Rogers and $700 on Bell.  On their websites they are all dropping the prices dramatically…Rogers has it for $79.99 on a two-year – Bell has it for $99.99 on a two-year – Videotron wants $99.99 on a two-year – and MTS and SaskTel are still showing $149.99 on a two-year contract.

The LG G3 coming to Canada has the 5.5-inch QHD display, meaning a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an unbelievable 538 pixels-per-in (PPI).  It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz and packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, although there is a microSD card slot to add an additional 128GB of storage…enough to handle any pictures or music you can throw at it.  The other big news is the camera – a new 13MP shooter with an improved OIS+, with Laser Autofocus and a Dual LED flash with a white and yellow flash for better, more natural lighting.  The 2.1MP front-facing camera (FFC) is ideal for great video chatting or taking a selfie.  A 3,000mAh battery that will certainly get you through a long day of serious work, powers the G3.  It is running the current Android 4.4.2 KitKat with its own Optimus UI on top.  It is also optimized for Canada’s market with LTE on AWS as well as 2600MHz and 700MHz.  It is only available in Metallic Black at this point.

The LG G3 is quite a device and surprising that the Canadian carriers are lowering the price so quickly – were sales slow or are they just trying to lower the Metallic Black inventory so that they can bring in the other colors, or simply trying a back-to-school thing?  Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you already made an LG G3 purchase at the higher price or if the price drop will stimulate you to go out and purchase one now…as always, we would love to hear from you.  Watch a short video on the highlights of the G3.
