Asus announced they will hold a press event at IFA this year. September 3rd is the date Asus will show us what they have up their sleeves. They didn't exactly hint any specific product launch for the event, though Asus CEO did mention they are working on a smartwatch after Google I/O this year, so we might see that piece of technology at the event. Other than that, we're in the dark. However, some new information came our way, courtesy of Liliputing. It seems like Asus is working on 9.4-inch and 14.2-inch tablets considering they visited GFXBench (you can check them out in a gallery below), just in time for IFA, don't you think? We're guessing again, but hey, it seems plausible. Anyhow, let's see what those tablets look like.
The tablets in mention are the Asus K01B and K01E models. Let's kick things off with the bigger one, Asus K01B. According to the GFXBench this device will sport a 14.2-inch 1920 x 1200 and a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz (the one you can find in the Nexus 4 and 2nd-gen Nexus 7) along with the Adreno 320 GPU. 2GB of RAM will be included for your multitasking needs along with 16GB of internal storage out of which 10GB will be available it seems. 5-megapixel camera will be located at the back of the device with the 1.2-megapixel sitting on the front of the device. Android 4.4.2 KitKat seems to their OS of choice here. This device could be a part of the Transformer Pad line. That 14.2" display probably means this device will come with an optional keyboard dock, it would be weird otherwise (although it's kind of odd already).
The other tablet that was benchmarked is K01E, the 9.4-inch model. This device is somewhat weaker as far as specs go. GFXBench says it will sport, you guessed it, a 9.4-inch 1280 x 800 display, the same CPU as the 14.2-inch model, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. 2-megapixel camera is listed as this tablet's main shooter, while a 0.3-megapixel sensor will be located on the front of the device. This device is also going to come with Android 4.4.2 out of the box if this benchmark is to be believed.
These devices could launch at Asus' September 3rd event, so stay tuned. Asus will probably lose its spotlight to Samsung on that day though, considering Galaxy Note 4 is going to be unveiled on that day. Hopefully Asus will be able to provide some excitement for the tech world and draw some attention to the other side as well.
