Now it's not Matias Duarte. He's head of design for Android and not Google, nor Google's ATAP. The one leaving Google is Dan Makoski, and he's heading over to Capital One. Makoski was head of design for their Project ATAP which are responsible for Project Ara and a few other projects out there. Many are wondering why he'd leave Google to head to Capital One who has all kinds of celebrities for their ads like Samuel L Jackson and Alec Baldwin. Well, Dan took to his blog today to talk about his decision. Makoski, listed a few reasons:

- there are few spaces as ripe for technology and human-inspired re-imagination as how people relate to their money,
- Capital One has been steadily building a quiet but extraordinary design thinking, strategy and execution culture on top of its already legendary data analytics capability,
- and when you stir the above and throw in the spark of vision & leadership:
So there you have it Dan Makoski is leaving Google and heading over to Capital One. Now this doesn't mean anything is going to change at Google, at least not anytime soon. Makoski did plenty of things at Google, like design the Moto X, and was heading up the Project Ara design as well. At this point it's unknown who will be taking his place, but I'm sure Google has a plan for all of this as we are looking forward to Project Ara hitting shelves next year. For those unfamiliar, Project Ara is basically the modular phone. Where you can replace the processor, RAM, Camera, and plenty of other goodies.
