Early this morning, Sony announced the new Xperia Z2a which is going to be available in Taiwan next month. So far there’s no plans to bring it elsewhere, so it appears to be just a Taiwan exclusive at this point. This is basically the same as the Xperia ZL2 which was announced for NTT DoCoMo in Japan recently. It’ll be supporting Taiwan’s full-band 4G LTE market. That includes the 700Mhz, 900Mhz, and 1800Mhz bands.
The Xperia Z2a is sporting a 5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 3000mAh battery, 20.7MP camera on the back and is rated IP55/58 for water resistance and dust proof. It’ll also have 16GB of storage instead of the 32GB that the ZL2 has over in Japan. So it’s basically the same specs as the Xperia Z2 sold elsewhere in the world, but the biggest change is the support for Taiwan’s full-band 4G LTE which is a big deal. It’ll be launching in July in three colors, those are black, white and turquoise. Sony also announced the Xperia T3 for Taiwan today. Also expected to launch in July.
Not a bad device at all, and it definitely looks like a good seller. Although I kinda wish that Sony had announced it in Purple. The Purple Sony Xperia’s look pretty cool. But anyways, now we have a great Sony device in Taiwan that will definitely get some pretty spectacular speeds since they are using all three 4G LTE bands. I’d love to see the Z2a or even the Xperia Z2 make it into the US, but I’m not gonna hold my breathe for that one.
How many of you over in Taiwan are interested in the Sony Xperia Z2a? Or are you interested in another device that’s coming out soon? Maybe the LG G3, or the Samsung Galaxy Note 4? Let us know in the comments below.
