Google Play Movies & TV Now Supporting Offline Playback on Chrome OS

At the Chrome OS event that Google and Intel held last month - where Google introduced us to a whole lineup of Chrome OS devices - we were told that the Google Play Movies & TV app for Chrome OS would be getting an update to support offline playback. Well that update is now here, finally. With this update you'll be able to watch different Movies and TV shows that are in your account without an internet connection. Which is a pretty big deal, and great for those that might take their Chromebook with them on a flight and want to watch a movie or two. Now you're going to need the Chrome extensions for Play Movies and TV as it won't work from the Play Store. However, that could change soon.

With the Chrome extension, you'll be able to download your favorite movies and TV Shows to watch later on when you don't have an internet connection. Which is great for traveling or whatever it might be. This will work with videos that you own, or have rented. Once it's in your library just simply hit the download button which is next to the Play button.

There's more to this update though. Google brought more information cards and also improved the ability to cast these videos to Chromecast. The playback experience in the Chrome browser on Chrome OS has also been tweaked and improved, which is also nice to have, as always. The Chrome extension can be found from the link below, and can be installed on any device, however, you'll see the most changes from using it on a Chrome OS device, like the Acer C720, or the new Samsung Chromebook 2. How many of you are excited for this update to the Google Play Movies & TV Chrome Extension? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
