Follow the World Cup action via Pebble's App and Customise the WatchFace to Support your Team

You could be mistaken for thinking that Google I/O is the only newsworthy event going on today, but you would also be wrong. Over in Brazil the 2014 FIFA World Cup is reaching the knock-out phase, which means yet more excitement and drama. Pebble have decided to get in on the action by offering new ways to follow your team and customise the aesthetics of the smart watch to show support for your favourite team.

If you own a Pebble smart watch, you can now download an appropriate watch face for your team by clicking on relevant link below:

If you happen to be in the office, or similarly deposed, one of the ways that you can follow your team by installing Pebble's World Cup app that will show the live score of your team's match as well as their upcoming fixtures. As you can see from the main picture, the update is clear enough, and you'll be able to glance at it surreptitiously without drawing any undue attention if in a meeting.

If you feel that that you would like to show your support for your team more prominently, you can always design your own watchface via Paul Rode's WatchFace Generator, and if that isn't quite enough, you can get a Pebble skin from GadgetWraps, example of which can be seen in the pictures in the gallery.

Spain, England, Italy and others may be out of the World Cup already, and a certain Luis Suarez had Italian take-out last night, but there's still a lot of matches to go and hey, being patriotic never goes out of fashion. Let us know your thoughts in the comments or at our GooglePlus page.

I've been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being my first phablet. I currently carry a Samsung Galaxy S5 and a Tab S 8.4 LTE around. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, I'm an avid sports fan, enjoy travelling(currently living in the UK), and like all South Africans, I love a good BBQ (Braai).
