Today, Acer is announcing that their award-winning Liquid S1, Liquid Z3 and Liquid Z5 smartphones are making their way to Canada. The Liquid S1 was announced in June 2013, the Liquid Z3 in August of 2013, and the Liquid Z5 at CES in January of 2014. So they are not new phones at all, but they are new to Canada.
As far as specs go, the Liquid S1 packs 5.7-inch 720p display, a quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It also has a microSD card slot along with a 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP front-facing shooter. It also is packing a 2400mAh battery inside.
Next up is the Liquid Z3 which packs 3.5-inch 480×320 resolution display, along with a dual-core Mediatek MT6572 processor clocked at 1GHz, and 512MB of RAM with 4GB of storage and a microSD card slot. It also features a 3.15MP rear-facing shooter and no front-facing shooter. Along with a 1500mAh battery inside.
Finally we have the Liquid Z5 which has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 854×480. Powered by a dual-core Mediatek MT6572 clocked at 1.3GHz. Also has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. There’s also a 5MP and VGA cameras, along with a 2000mAh battery inside.
So as you can see from the specs, these are definitely not high-end devices, but really low-end smartphones from Acer. Which is kind of what they are known for. They aren’t really known for smartphones actually, more along the lines of tablets and PCs. But it’s still great to see them jumping into the smartphone race now. We’ll likely see these available on Prepaid in a few weeks. How many of you are interested in one of these new Acer Liquid smartphones? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.
