Let the envy begin. While those of us here won't be able to buy a Xperia Z2, unless we decide to grab one unlocked from the Sony Mobile store, those in the UK will be able to grab theirs today. Needless to say, we are envious. Right now, only Phones4u has launched the Xperia Z2 in the UK, but we should see the other carriers launching it in the next few weeks or so. This comes after plenty of set backs of the device, because Sony couldn't keep up with demand for the Xperia Z2. Which is typically a good thing. The Xperia Z2 is going to be available for £540-550 outright or free with a monthly bill as low as £37.99. Which isn't bad, or so I'm told.
The Xperia Z2 offers a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display - yes the viewing angles have been fixed - along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Oh and don't forget the 20.7-megapixel camera on the back. Needless to say, the Xperia Z2 is a beast. Phones4u is also offering 50-percent off of the Sony Smartband when you buy a Sony Xperia Z2 as well as getting £80 worth of Sony Entertainment content. You'll also be getting Michael Jackson's new album XSCAPE for free. So it's a pretty good deal all in all.
As we stated earlier, the Sony Xperia Z2 is only coming to the US as an unlocked device. Which means only those on AT&T and T-Mobile are in luck this go 'round. I'm not sure how many Sony is going to sell, but I'm willing to bet it won't be many. While we seem to think everyone buys their phones off-contract or unlocked, there really aren't many that do. Unless it's a Nexus device. Hopefully Sony comes to their senses soon and brings their next flagship to all the carriers.
