Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo in Red and Pink?

May 5, 2014 - Written By Cory McNutt

Samsung redefined the term Phablet when it released its first Note series in 2011 and has since refined the category each year after with the Note 2 in 2012 and the Note 3 in 2103.  The one problem with the Note series is its pricing – a little too steep for some individuals.  In February, Samsung released the Galaxy Note 3 Neo with lesser specs, but also a lesser price tag of about $500 unlocked.  It originally arrived in three colors – Evergreen Black, Alluring White and Cool Mint – and today we just learned that Samsung would be adding two more colors to the line-up: a Galaxy Note 3 Neo in Pink and a Galaxy Note 3 Neo in Red.  There is no word on whether Samsung will make these new colors available outside of Korea, but there seems no reason to keep them in their homeland.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is very much like the original Galaxy Note 3 – right down to the faux leather backing used on the device and the S-Pen in its silo.  It features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display of 1280 x 720p resolution.  The 3G model is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz with the LTE+ model using a hexa-core processor with two A15s clocked at 1.7GHz and four A7 series cores each clocked at 1.3GHz.  The Note 3 neo has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, expandable with the microSD card slot built-in.

The main camera drops down from 13Mp to 8MP and offers a front-facing camera of 2MP for video chatting or selfies.  This is all run by a powerful 3100mAh battery – the original Note 3 has great battery life, so the Neo model should give even longer life.  Connectivity wise you have 2G, 3G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.  Also included are a number of sensors – including accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor, and compass.  The Galaxy Note 3 Neo also packs in all of the Samsung Note 3 software, including Air Command with Action Menu, Scrapbooker, Screen-Write, S-Finder, and Pen Window, as well as Smart Stay, Smart Scroll, and Smart Pause.
