Amazon has been slowly but steadily building up their Appstore to become a pretty good second alternative to Google's own Play Store. Many of you will be familiar with Amazon's app and game offerings as there's potentially a Kindle Fire around the house, but if not the Appstore works just great on any Android smartphone and if you haven't already taken a look, it's worth a few minutes of your time to see what they have to offer. The main draw of the Appstore however, has become its free app a day feature, where it offers a paid app each and every day for nothing. Today though, Amazon's Appstore is not offering just one app, nor two or three free apps, but nine.

These nine apps will appeal to avid mobile photographers as the nine apps up for grabs completely gratis today are all photo editing apps. Varying in their paid price, Amazon has put together a pretty decent selection of photo editing apps. The free apps for May 16th are PicShop, Photo Studio PRO (for Kindle Tablets only), Perfectly Clear, FireFrame, PicFrame, TouchRetouch, Camera ZOOM FX, Rhonna Designs and Paper Camera. A lot of you will have already heard of these apps before, but if you've been on the fence about paying up, then you can download them for free for a limited time.

If you haven't got the Amazon Appstore on your device, it's a simple download from Amazon's own site. With Grand Theft Auto now available for the Kindle Fire TV, Amazon has a whole lot of premium content to offer. Take a look at the photo apps and let us know down in the comments which is your favorite! These apps should be available for the rest of May 16th.

For years now I've had a heavy interest in technology, growing up with 8-bit computers and gaming consoles has fed into an addiction to everything that beeps. Android saved me from the boredom of iOS years ago and I love watching the platform grow. As an avid reader and writer nothing pleases me more than to write about the exciting world of Android, Google and mobile technology as a whole.
