Xiaomi Releases Simple Installer to Give Your Phone that MIUI Look Without Custom ROMs

Xiaomi is the new hotness in the land of China right now, and there's a number of reasons behind that.  Firstly they've got some pretty killer hardware going on most of their phones, and best of all they are almost always on the cheap, giving users fantastic value for what they pay for.  Secondly their software is super polished and user friendly, and while they offer a very iOS look and feel in certain portions of the OS, the interface is mostly unique to Xiaomi's phones.  This custom version of Android has been around for quite a while now and is called MIUI.  If you've been a part of the Android development and custom ROMs scene for any period of time you've no doubt seen MIUI in the list of ROMs available for your phone, and may have even tried a couple versions of the ROM out for yourself.  If you haven't or just don't want to mess with the whole modifying your phone thing, but still want to get that MIUI look and feel you're in luck today.

Xiaomi has released an installer that drops all the needed files to make your phone look like a real Xiaomi phone without all the hassle of custom ROMs, and the process couldn't be easier.  Simply head to the Xiaomi website here and click the download button to download the .apk Android installer file.  Once it's downloaded make sure you've got unknown sources enabled so you can install apps that aren't from the Google Play Store (your phone will prompt you if you don't) and follow the prompts to have the MIUI apps installed on your phone.  The installer puts the MIUI dialer, contacts, messaging, desktop, Millet cloud services and more on your phone, making it almost a Xiaomi phone without having the real thing.  Since these are only the apps the actual system on your phone won't be replaced, so your settings menu and other key areas of Android won't be affected, but the main parts of your phone that you likely use every day will have a fresh new look and feel about them.
