DoubleTwist has been around for quite some time and they have proven themselves to be able to supply the android community with various useful music oriented apps. This new app-or rather a hack- that they have just released enables users the capability to use Google Play Music with Apple TV, allowing you the full library of your Google accounts music on the big screen. This is already capable for those who had Chromecast devices, but Apple TV is a pretty widely used platform that many people have had since before the Chromecast and still use it. Just like you would be able to stream your iTunes to the Apple TV, you can now do so with Google Play Music and this hack from DoubleTwist. To use this particular feature, your device will need to have root access, so if it doesn't than this won't be of particular use to you.
If you have a rooted device or will be rooting it soon, than feel free to grab the Airplay for Android apk file from DoubleTwists page link down below, than proceed to install and grant the app root access as you would any other root required app, and afterwards you should be off and running. Their really isn't much else to it besides that, the app just works and allows you to now find Airplay devices that are connected to your network. Once you have the app installed you'll basically be going into Google Play Music like you would normally if you were using a Chromecast dongle to stream, but instead you'll now be streaming to your Apple TV. You should be able to see a cast button after this install and any Airplay enabled devices hooked up to your network should be visible as a casting selection.
The cool thing is that this Airplay for Android app doesn't just work with Google Play music, but rather any application that uses the Google Cast API, so that means you should be able to stream hulu+, Netflix, HBOGO, and others to your Apple TV or other Airplay devices as well. Thanks to the team at DoubleTwist, streaming media with Android devices just got a whole lot easier.
