Worldwide Android News 03/16/14 – Black Galaxy S4, Chromecast, G Pro 2 and More!

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Launches in South Korea Complete with LTE-A Support

Samsung has long been known for catering to different price points in the market, and the Galaxy Grand 2 is the latest device to prove that. A mid-ranger complete with LTE-A support has just launched in South Korea. With a 5.5-inch 720p display, a 1.2 Ghz quad-core CPU and 1.5 GB of RAM, it's not a bad device, and would be good for those looking for something larger but aren't interested in paying the extra for the Galaxy Note line. Coming in at 517,000 won it could be cheaper, but this is a Samsung device and should sell well regardless.

Galaxy S4 Now Available in Black in the UK

When Samsung announced a Galaxy Note 3-looking Galaxy S4 in Russia, we were wondering if it would make it elsewhere and now, the UK retailer, Phones 4 U has exclusivity on the black leather version of the year-old Galaxy S4, and they want £500 for it. Yeah, £500. For those outside of the UK, that's what the Galaxy S FIVE is going to cost near enough at launch, so we're unsure how Samsung and Phones 4 U feel that fake leather makes all that price difference. This is exactly the same phone, with the same Snapdragon 600 we saw debut last year, so this is something to give a miss we would say…

HTC's Desire 816 Nears a Million Pre-Orders In Asia

When HTC announced the Desire 816 last month in Barcelona, we knew that it was a device aimed at the Asian market first and foremost. Something that HTC is very keen to focus on going forward, thanks to their strong brand presence and the ability to turn a profit on lower-cost devices. The 816 is a device with a 5.5-inch 720p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 400, the latest HTC Sense and BoomSound speakers. A quality device by all means, the Desire 816 has achieved over 700,000 pre-orders in China, according to online retailer, coming closer and closer to the 1 million device mark, it looks like HTC might be on their way back to recovery.

Milagrow M8 Pro 3G Launches in India with 9.4-inch Display

Something more for those in need of serious computing power, Milagrow have launched the 9.4-inch M8 Pro 3G in conjunction with Snapdeal. With an HD 1280 x 800 display, a quad-core Rockchip CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 6,500 mAh battery and more, the Milagrow M8 Pro 3G comes with 3G capabilities as well. It's a decent tablet running Android 4.2 (which is a shame) that runs for RS 19,999 and has gone on sale in India just recently.

Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL Are Headed to India Within The Next 60 Days

Nokia XL

The Nokia X has recently launched in India and soon, the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL will be coming along for the ride. The X+ is much the same as the original Nokia X with its 4-inch 800 x 480 display, 1 Ghz Snapdragon CPU, however it does come with 768MB of RAM, which might make something of a difference. The Nokia XL however is pretty much what you think it is, coming in at 5-inches it's the bigger Nokia X there is, and also gets a much better camera at 5-megapixel with auto-focus, something neither the X or the X+ can boast about. All the Nokia X devices have the same lackluster display at 800 x 480 and feature just Android 4.1.2 with a Windows-phone esque skin on top.

Google's Chromecast Coming to PC World and Currys in The UK

While the Chromecast has become something of a runaway success in the States, it's not available in the UK just yet, but hopefully that's about to change soon. We had heard rumors of this before, but someone was industrious enough to snap a photo of the above Chromecast boxes at PC World/Currys store in the UK. The Tweet no longer exists, but what we do know is that deliveries of the Chromecast seem to be headed to stores up and down the UK, so a launch could be imminent. Those in the US however, can simply buy one from Amazon at their leisure, and with more and more apps coming now's a good time to buy one.

HP Slate 7 VoiceTab Goes on Sale in India

For those in need of a large display, and yet still need phone capabilities can now buy the HP Slate 7 VoiceTab from HP, which is essentially a 7-inch tablet with voice calling. The 7-inch 1280 x 800 display is backed up with a quad-core Marvell CPU, Android 4.2.2, 1GB of RAM, and a pair of mediocre cameras at 5 and 2-megapixels. Of course, we can't expect too much for RS 16,990 but it would be nice to see someone like HP using the latest version of Android for once. Available now, this might be an option for those looking to consolidate devices.

LG G Pro 2 Headed to Singapore by End of This Month

The recently announced G Pro 2 from LG is a great device that brings some of the best specs out there to the table, with a Snapdragon 800, 3GB of RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. It's also coming to Singapore before the end of March, which is important for those in the region but also elsewhere, as it could mean that a global launch is on the horizon. The device will be going on sale in Singapore for SGD $828 and should be a great device for people to pickup.
