For many users of Android, the appeal of being able to customize and tweak the design of the UI to just the way you like it is one of the biggest draws that people find about the platform. It doesn’t just end with swapping out your wallpapers, changing things like the home screen UI, icons, accent colors and other things are just a few of the different ways one can customize the look of their device to make it truly unique and personalized. While themeing, customizing, and re-skinning is arguably a very popular component for many Android users, there are equally that many people that have no idea how to theme, and might like to learn.
At least one OEM is doing their part to help streamline this process for users out of the box and make it possible for anyone to easily customize a wide variety of aspects to the devices UI. Sony has recently announced the release of something they are calling Xperia Themes, which is a feature that has been launched on Xperia devices in the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to various Xperia handsets. Think themer from mycolorscreen, but on a much more massive scale and with near complete control by the user. You can choose to download a theme through the themes menu, which will take you to the Play Store to install, then just go back to theme menu and tap to apply. There are a small amount of already applicable themes that are included with the Xperia Themes feature and more available with just a few quick taps. In addition to giving your phone a fully set theme, you can also skin up to 280 different assets of the device, from menu colors, to navigation and status bar colors, and of course icons and folders.
While there are already a large amount of customization options available with the Xperia Themes feature, Sony is planning to add even more stuff in the near future. More design elements, more apps etc. are coming to Xperia Themes to add even more customization capabilities for users who own an Xperia device. One of the most popular themes already available and seems to be a Sony favorite is a theme called Triflat. If you own an Xperia device, don’t take our word for it, go check out the themes section for yourself. Sony Xperia Themes is available for Xperia devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or later, so even if you’re running Kit Kat you can still utilize this new awesome feature.
