Lost and tired? No problem. You can use Google Naps to find yourself a suitable resting place. For years we’ve used Google Maps to get around and find the next best breakfast bistro, but it has become clear to us that it has always been missing one glaring feature. A nap finder. Because sometimes, you just need to take a nap. Perhaps you just had a long day of shopping, maybe you’ve been scouring the city for a place to open your business, or maybe you just sleep a lot. Hey, no judgement here, sometimes a good nap is just what the doctor ordered. Google Naps can help you find the best places in your area for napping if you ever have the need, and it looks just like Google Maps so you should find the interface familiar and easy to use.
The actual developers of this fantastically wonderful website are actually based out of The Netherlands, which is apparently an extremely nap friendly part of Europe. There wasn’t any great nap spots(or any for that matter)in my local area, but just about an hour north in Portland I found there to be a decent few spots. The great part about Google Naps is that you can actually submit your own nap locations by simply clicking on a locale on the map, and then you enter your name and information about why that chosen location is a great spot for napping, and what type of nap area it is(I.E. where you’ll be sleeping). Pretty simple, and pretty straight forward.
As hilarious as it is to see such a website like this pop up(the developers are calling this a parody), we have to wonder what Google actually thinks. The creators of the site actually have a message posted in the bottom right hand corner of the map that is asking Google not to pursue any legal action, and that they have only done this to put smiles on peoples faces. An lets be honest, because they feel the world needs more power of information on the best places to snag a few Zzzz. The next time you need to take a break, make sure to pull up Google Naps and you just might find yourself near a great place to have a nap.
