Verizon Wireless Expands Same Day Delivery in 12 More Cities

Back in October, Verizon officially announced they were going to offer Same Day Delivery on a limited basis in Philadelphia, PA - to test the waters and see, not only how it would work, but would customers be willing to pay an extra $19.99 for same day delivery by 7:00 PM.  It worked so well, that in December, Verizon expanded their same day delivery project to include, New York City, Pittsburgh, PA, Dallas, TX, and San Francisco, CA.  The project appears to be so successful that today Verizon announced they would expand the same day service to 12 additional cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, San Diego, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.  Melanie VanderValk, Vice President, national distribution, Verizon Wireless said, "We want customers to have multiple options to help them get the most from their wireless experience."

The same day service does include the purchase of accessories, if bought in conjunction with a device - smartphone, tablet, etc. - you cannot simply have accessories delivered same day.  This also helps Verizon manage their local inventory in both local warehouses and company owned stores, rather than having all of the devices shipped from central warehouses. It also allows customers another option as opposed to standard delivery, two-day delivery, next day delivery, or in-store pickup.

New or existing customers can take advantage of this same day delivery with certain restrictions (we must always have those) - order online by 10:00 AM local time, Monday through Friday, and delivery will be guaranteed by 7:00 PM local time.  Not a bad deal when you realize that most people agree to pay $14.95 for priority overnight delivery, so adding $5.00 for same day service is not that much extra.  Customers that order after the normal cut-off times, between 4:00 PM and 12:00 AM, will still have the option to have their order delivered the next business day.

Verizon has not indicated if other cities will be added, but considering the popularity of the service, they will most likely continue to expand this option to even more of the larger cities. Let us know on our Google+ page if this is a service that you would take advantage of using - do you feel that $20 is a fair amount to pay for same day service? I guess AT&T is right - "Faster is better."
