Just recently, did the T-Mobile Moto X get their update to Android 4.4.2. In fact, it started rolling out to T-Mobile and the unlocked GSM versions on Monday. Now we are looking at Sprint getting soak test invitations now for their update, which should be more or less the same update and changelog as we had for the T-Mobile Moto X. The build number might even be the same.
The Android 4.4.2 update is rather small, but it fixes a few things that are driving Moto X users crazy, and that includes the battery life. With the update to Android 4.4, Moto X users began seeing Android OS killing our battery with around 50% being used just for the Android OS. That's due to a wakelock that we cannot fix, that Motorola has to fix. That fix is in this update, also there are fixes for exchange and a few other stability fixes in here. Invites are heading out tonight, so we probably won't see the update actually go out to testers until Thursday or Friday of this week or even next week. So it still might be a bit before we see this update for all Sprint users. But if you are a Sprint Moto X user and you are part of the Motorola Feedback Network (MFN) you should be getting an email tonight, so you'll want to be sure to fill out that survey ASAP so you have a chance of being included in this soak test.
If you're a Sprint Moto X user, let us know if you're able to get into the soak test down below. We're interested to see how the update goes for our friends over on Sprint, as the update went pretty smoothly over here on T-Mobile and the GSM Developer edition of the Moto X. So I think it'll be the same for those on Sprint. Either way, let us know in the comments below how it works out for you.
