Sponsored App Review: HuCare

Description: You might have heard of HuCare, the service that can make keeping on top of your medicine a real breeze. The service itself depends on its mobile apps to be truly useful, and as such the Android app is important to those looking to stay organized when it comes to their meds. Taking medicine is something that millions upon millions of us have to go through and while the long-standing conditions are easy to take care of, new ones aren't. Introducing new medication to your routine and keeping on top of things can become difficult. The HuCare Android app makes all of this easy to do in an app that's not only easy to use but welcoming and comfortable to use daily. Read on to find out more about the HuCare app.

How it Works: First of all, you might want to learn about HuCare, which you can do from their website. Once you've done that and subscribed – with a 60-day free trial on offer – you can download the app and sign-in with your credentials. After that, you'll want to add some medicine, which is really easy to do. You can simply take a photo of the barcode and have it all filled in for you.

You can choose to input your own data in as well, but this will make things nice and simple for a lot of users. You can adjust the dosages and such too, so you're always reminded to take the right amount.

Once you've inputted your medicines, you can see them in a sort of replicated cabinet, which is a nice warm touch.

HuCare can help you keep on top of your medicine really easily, and even the elderly can take to the app thanks to warm touches such as physical representations of drug packets.

An essential for every app like this, HuCare features a calendar to remind you about daily, or weekly intakes.

Opinion: These types of apps aren't new on Android, and in fact medicine managers have been around for years. However, that doesn't mean that there isn't room for an app like HuCare, far from it. The HuCare app is a nice blend of being warm and welcoming with a virtual cabinet and genuine packaging, without taking things too far. Too much skeumorphism can be a bad thing, after all. For those that have a lot of medicine to keep on top of, this is a good app and we're sure that even the elderly will be able to use this without any problems.

  • Speed (4/5) – HuCare runs great and once you've signed in you can add medicine quickly with the camera feature.
  • Features (5/5) – There are a lot of other, similar apps out there, but HuCare brings everything together in a user-friendly package that's hard to find elsewhere.
  • Theme (4/5) – A good-looking app, HuCare gets the balance of being familiar while creating a digital app right and pretty much anyone can use this with little issue.
  • Overall (4/5) – A solid offering for those that need to keep their medicine in check, and can't afford to forget a dose.

  • Camera feature makes adding common medicine a breeze, with manual entry there if needed.
  • Virtual cabinet is a nice familiar feature that we've all used before and helps make the app feel less digital and forced.
  • Calendar feature makes remembering when to take what as simple as inputting it once.
  • 60-day free trial gives you plenty of time to see if the app is for you.

  • Does feel a little more like an iPhone app than an Android app.
  • Ability to set custom photos for medication would be useful if new packaging is out.

Conclusion: At the end of the day, HuCare is a good app that fulfills its purpose pretty well and looks fairly decent doing it. It's a shame that there are so many other apps out there just like this one, but HuCare can't help that after all. For just $4.99 a year, HuCare offers a compelling service, you might wonder why you'd pay for something like this. Well, the security on your account is one large area HuCare excels, but being able to share your schedule with family members is a great way to enable others to take care of you without being too much of a burden. Those with long-standing conditions or the elderly could take great advantage of what's on offer here.

For years now I've had a heavy interest in technology, growing up with 8-bit computers and gaming consoles has fed into an addiction to everything that beeps. Android saved me from the boredom of iOS years ago and I love watching the platform grow. As an avid reader and writer nothing pleases me more than to write about the exciting world of Android, Google and mobile technology as a whole.
