Motorola To Release A Stylish And Battery Friendly Smartwatch Later This Year

Motorola has been causing quite a stir in mobile technology since being acquired by Google. With all the hype surrounding the Moto X, Motorola's flagship device, nobody could get Motorola's name out of their mouth. When the Moto X was finally announced, the general consensus was that the device was definitely something that Android needed. It seemed that Motorola had really figured out a way to make a comeback and Google seemed like it was really good for Motorola. With the price drops of the Moto X, and the release of the Moto G, it seemed that Motorola really understood what consumers wanted in a phone. Not to mention, Motorola also included a slew of amazing and extremely useful features in their flagship. From always listening Touchless Control to Active Display, Motorola included awesome features without disrupting the overall look and feel of stock Android. When we learned that Lenovo would be buying Motorola, people weren't exactly sure if this would be good for them.

Today, Motorola had a discussion at MWC where they talked a little bit about their future and where they're going. For a little while now, we've been hearing rumors about Motorola manufacturing tablets and smartwatches. Motorola has confirmed that they do have plans to release a smartwatch later on this year. According to Motorola's Senior Vice President Rick Osterloh, Motorola hopes to solve the style and battery issues in current smartwatches and wearables. It appears as though Osterloh wants wearables to be something that people accessorize with and are comfortable with wearing. It looks like they also want to solve the problem that some smartwatches currently face, where you need to recharge your battery often. Now Motorola was very mum on other details about the smartwatch, but they have said that we should look for their smartwatch later on this year.

If you don't recall, Motorola has dipped a toe in the smartwatch pool before. With their MotoACTV smartwatch, Motorola allowed you to track hardcore workouts and listen to music. However, the MotoACTV didn't have great battery life, and it wasn't exactly aimed at every consumer. With this new smartwatch in the works, it seems like Motorola really wants to make a good smartwatch that works for everyone. While we still have a while to go before the smartwatch is announced, I'm sure there will be rumors and leaks in the meantime. We'll keep an eye out for potential rumors.
