2014 is finally getting under way and with Mobile World Congress looming large on the horizon, an influx of new smartphones will be headed our way shortly. One of those is the hotly anticipated LG G Pro 2, the follow-up to last year's large and in charge LG Optimus G Pro. Back then, LG brought the specs, with it being one of the first devices packing a Snapdragon 600 and a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Since then however, a lot has happened and Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 gave the Optimus G Pro a lot to worry about. This year though, we're hearing some pretty great things concerning LG's next large-screen handset and if the rumors are true, Samsung will once again have something to worry about.
The device is said to be launching at Mobile World Congress towards the end of this month however, ZDNet Korea has been passed an invitation to an event that not-so-subtlely suggests the G Pro 2 will be announced as soon as February 13th, next week. The invited reads "knock-knock knockin' on", which is obviously a reference to LG's Knock-On feature that debuted with the G2 last year. We can't imagine that LG has enough to talk about at a press event concerning Knock-On, so we're going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this is an event for the G Pro 2. There's a chance that this even isn't going to be your typical international launch however, and word is that this is more of an "intimate" affair with a select few Korean media and the such.
The G Pro 2 is shaping up to be yet another phone from LG that's packed to the rafters with specs and industry firsts. The display is said to take up 77% of the device's front panel thanks to 0.4mm thin bezels, the speakers are apparently going to give HTC's BoomSound a run for its money. The G Pro 2 will soon be upon us and we're pretty sure that LG will have something very special for us leading into 2014.
