This morning, BLU Products added another addition to their lineup. This is the BLU Life Pure Mini. So this means that we have yet another OEM doing "mini" phones. The original Life Pure is a 5-inch device (which I'm finishing up the review on right now), while the Life Pure Mini is a 4.5-inch display. This one is on sale for $249. As far as specs go, we're looking at a 1280x720 resolution display, quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6589T processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 3000mAh battery, 2MP front-facing camera, and a 8MP rear camera. It is running on Android 4.2 as well, with their relatively light-weight skin on board.
I know everyone wants to know this, the Life Pure Mini does not support LTE, but it does support HSPA+ 42mbps network. As far as bands go we're looking at:
"3G 850/1900 or 850/2100, and 2G 850/900/1800/1900MHz"
As far as dimensions go, we're looking at a 130 x 64.4 x 8.9mm. So it's a pretty thin device and weighs in at just 149 grams. We don't know exactly when the Life Pure Mini will be available for sale, but it should be pretty soon, I'd venture to guess in Q1 of this year. It should be available on Amazon for $249 soon in the US and Latin America, as that's where BLU is focusing this device.
For a device that's priced at $249 unlocked and off-contract, it's a great device. Now mind you, it's not set to compete with the Galaxy S5 or Galaxy Note 3 or any of those flagships. It's more to compete with the likes of the Galaxy Ace or the Moto G. And I think it competes quite well, even the Life Pure competes quite well for someone that wants a bigger phone but not a bigger price tag. Our review unit will be headed our way very soon so we'll have a full review up soon.
