Ravenous Games, the geniuses behind the League of Evil series of games, is hard at work with their noses to the grindstone getting everything ready for their upcoming new game. The as of yet unreleased title is called Devious Dungeon, and is going to be a platformer of sorts that carries the same retro pixelated style of Ravenous Games previous works, which is alright by us because the retro games are pretty darn fun. If you have ever played League Of Evil, than you may already know what to somewhat expect with this new game, as the company is trying to build it up in a similar image. They want to reach new fans as well as the older core group of people that loved League Of Evil, so we shouldn’t expect this game to stray too far from that play style.
There isn’t much to go off of about the game’s details, but thanks to an image of the game we do know that the controls will be fairly simple. Devious Dungeon will feature a left and right control set of keys for movement. It can’t get much simpler than that. Besides the movement keys, Ravenous Games has added in only two other buttons. An A, and B button, which are meant for your attack and jump commands. So the layout of controls and actions looks to be simple enough, but with a name like Devious Dungeon, and our experience with previous games similar to this one, we can’t imagine that the actual gameplay will be as simple as the controls themselves. Most likely it will have a varied depth of challenging segments, and who knows it might even bring back a memory or two of the frustrating moments spent trying to beat your favorite NES games.
Other than the controls, we know that the main goal of the game will be to eventually reach a certain King of the castle that the game takes place in. As one would have it, the King resides at the very top of the castle, and the only way to get to him will be to battle your way through foes, probable traps, and surely many obstacles that reside on many, many levels of dungeons leading up to the main castle. Ravenous Games hasn’t given any word as to when the game will officially release, or how much the game will cost for that matter, however they did mention that the plan was to land the game in the Play Store by the end of next month. Is anyone looking forward to this game? Have you ever played League Of Evil?
