Featured Accessory Review: dBrand Vinyl Skins For The Google Nexus 5

Many of you are probably familiar with dBrand, the Canadian company known for skinning our devices into whatever color, texture and feel we like. Google's Nexus 5 has been out for some time now and dBrand have a whole range of skins just ready and waiting for you to design your own Nexus 5 with. Here, we're taking a look at the wooden skin for the Nexus 5. I'm pretty oldschool in a lot of ways so, the natural look from the wood skin is something I really like. I've had this on my device for the best part of three weeks now and I'm happy to say that it's not peeled or anything like that at all. A lot of skins are simply a vinyl sticker you apply to your device but with dBrand, they go a little further. These skins have a simulated feel depending on which texture you get. Go for leather and it'll feel something like leather. The same can be said for this wood skin here, but it's not all that convincing however, it's still very pleasant.

All the cutouts are both precise and easy to lineup, with only six pieces in total, making the installation process super-easy. Even for someone like myself who struggles to install a screen protector properly made a pretty good job thanks to dBrand's excellent instruction videos. I can't say I have many complaints if any but, the outlines and edges definitely attract dust and lint which can be annoying, but this has lessened over time. As well, you do lose the soft grip backing on the Nexus 5, but this wood skin in particular is hardly slippy and the leather textures have a grip of their own, too. Take a closer look at my wooden Nexus 5 in the gallery below:

dBrand offer a wide-range of vinyl skins for the Nexus 5 and we've got a handful of them to give away later on the week so stay tuned and let us know what you think in the comments below!
