As usual, Verizon claims, "We never stop working for you." I know it makes me feel special, how about you? In October we ran a story that Verizon was starting same day deliver on a limited basis in the Philadelphia, PA region as a test run to see how well the service would work, and if it would be something that customers would actually use - in other words, were folks willing to pay an extra $19.99 for this same day delivery by 7:00 PM...and it appears that the answer was, "Yes," as they have made an official announcement and expanded the service to several new cities.
Obviously, there are certain rules and stipulations for this type of service, besides the $19.99 fee and the fact that the online transaction/order must be completed by 10:00 AM local time. Verizon lists the following mandates:
"Same Day Delivery will be offered to limited areas surrounding Philadelphia, PA, New York City, Pittsburg, PA, Dallas, TX and San Francisco, CA. When the option is available, you'll see it appear in the shipping options as you place an order online."
"Additional information may be required to complete your order upon credit and payment verification. You will be contacted via email, text, or phone if your order is held for any reason. It is important that you respond immediately to allow us time to finalize and ship your order prior to our courier cutoff times."
This service is not available for "Accessories Only" orders and Prepaid devices are also not eligible for this delivery option, although if you are ordering a device that is eligible, you can purchase accessories with that order and they will be delivered as well. Just a note - I really think Verizon means Pittsburgh, PA - not Pittsburg, PA - I just contacted Verizon and they verified it is Pittsburgh, PA. Also to consider, this same day delivery may not be available throughout the entire city - it goes by zipcode.
Let us know in the comments or on Google+ what you think of this Same Day Delivery option being offered by Verizon - would you pay an additional $20 to have your new smartphone delivered the same day? I am ashamed to say that I would take advantage of this service, after all, what is another $20 to get you device the same day rather than wait for their usually free, two-day delivery.
