When Motorola announced the Moto G last month, we were all pretty surprised by it. We honestly weren't expecting a phone with specs like that, running Android 4.3, and now Android 4.4 all for under $200 unlocked. The Moto G has been available for a little while, but it was unlocked so that means only AT&T and T-Mobile and their MVNO's supported the device. Now we're seeing pictures of it in Verizon's prepaid packaging. Which we pretty much knew it was coming to Verizon. As we've seen rumors of it for about a month or so now. There's also a rumor that the Verizon variant will be hitting Best Buy on January 9th.
The image above was sent to us from a tipster. Which is indeed the Verizon Moto G. The packaging for the Verizon Moto G is a bit different from what we've seen with the unlocked version. It's in Verizon's plastic packaging instead of the box Motorola provides. but you should still have all the same stuff. Remember the Moto G only comes with a microUSB cable and not a power brick. Currently the Moto G is available for $179 for the 8GB and $199 for the 16GB unlocked, so I'd expect close to the same pricing on Verizon's prepaid. Since that is no contract, there's no reason for them to sell it for free.
We don't know officially when the Moto G will be available on Verizon, but as I said above, I heard from a little birdie that it will be available on January 9th, which is a little over a week from now. So if you're looking to pick up the Moto G, you've got a bit longer to wait. How many of you are looking to pick up the Moto G on Verizon's prepaid network? Let us know in the comments below.
