Lately, it seems like everyone has been looking to create their own smartwatch. But many of us have forgotten that Sony had a smartwatch available before most people. In fact, Sony is on their second smartwatch, which was announced back in September with the Xperia Z1. What sets the Sony Smartwatch 2 apart from others like the Galaxy Gear, is the fact that it supports all Android phones. Although it doesn't support iOS devices like the Pebble does. The Sony Smartwatch is also water resistant at IP57, as well as readable outdoors. Which means you can wear it while your doing the dishes or taking a shower. Or even going for a swim.
The Sony Smartwatch 2 is also able to use different color bands. It's also easy to set up, since it uses NFC, you basically just need to put it next to your smartphone and it'll automatically pair. It works with any device that's running Android 4.0 and above. Sony also says that new software updates are available as new apps and devices become available. In fact, we recently saw the Quickoffice updated to support the Sony Smartwatch 2. There's also a wide variety of apps already on Google Play that are compatible with the Sony Smartwatch 2.
For under $200, this is a pretty nice stocking stuffer. And I'm pretty sure every Android enthusiast will love it. It's really great to see that it's not just compatible with Sony smartphones, but then again, that might be because Sony isn't popular for smartphones here in the US, since they aren't really focusing on the US. We've got plenty of other stocking stuffers as well, like the Google Chromecast and the Acer C720 Chromebook which we posted about earlier this week.
From all of us here at Android Headlines, we'd like to wish you Happy Holidays!
