Google is now almost finished rolling out Android 4.4 to the the Nexus family of devices and the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 and HTC One. As well as Motorola finishing up their rollout of Android 4.4 to the Moto X. Now it looks like the attention is coming to Android 4.4.1 which is said to be build KOT49E. According to one of HTC's popular tipsters, LlabTooFer, the HTC One Google Play Edition will be receiving it "in near future". Now I'm keen to believe LlabTooFer because he's been right on numerous occasions with other HTC leaks. Like the HTC One Google Play Edition. And it's pretty certain that there will be an Android 4.4.1 coming soon, especially since there are some bugs in Android 4.4.
This is a new build of KitKat, jumping from KRT16S to KOT49E, I'd be 100% sure that the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 as well as Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition would be getting the update as well. But then again I could be wrong. It's happened before. We're going to cross our fingers, but let's hope that the new camera features we have seen found in the code, and then confirmed by Google, comes in Android 4.4.1. After all it is just a new API. And while I don't think the Nexus 5 camera is too bad, many others do, and maybe that will make them happy.
Now for those that know about the Android build numbers, will know that this one was actually compiled on November 18th. Because the "T49" in the Build number relate to the quarter and days. And since the third quarter started on October 1st, the 49th day would be November 18th. So this build has been out for a bit, about 2 weeks now. So we might see it start rolling out soon, that is if it's ready. Of course, we'll be sure to keep you apprised as to when the update actually starts rolling out.
