Ever since Android 4.4 KitKat was released, the question on everybody's mind is "when will my device receive the upgrade?" We were surprised, but happy to know, that Motorola (Google) has rolled out their 4.4 KitKat already, and on Verizon, of all carriers, but then they announced they will be giving some 4.4 KitKat love to some of their older models, like the Droid Razr HD line and even the Atrix! This may be possible because Google designed Android 4.4 KitKat to run efficiently on as little as 512K RAM!
But what about the techno giant, Samsung - when will they be giving their Galaxy S3, S4 and Galaxy Note 2 and Note 3 a little 4.4 KitKat loving - they are, or were, their flagship models and are deserving of the upgrade, especially since the Galaxy Note 3 was released with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the latest and last version of that delicious operating system.
If the latest leak from iTech Addict, is not a fake, would mean that Samsung is shooting for an Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 (model CT-I9500) and Galaxy Note 3 (model SM-N900) to be ready in January 2014 - don't forget though, Samsung getting it out is one thing, but then it must be "tested and approved" by the carrier. This leak also shows that Samsung is shooting for the Galaxy S3 (model GT-I9300) and Galaxy Note 2 (model SM-N7100) 4.4 KitKat update by March or April 2014. Let's hope these dates are truly accurate and we will not have to wait too much longer, although we certainly want to avoid the Galaxy S4 snafu of the Android 4.3 update issues that plagued AT&T users.
Being that TouchWiz is so "heavy" a skin, Samsung would definitely have to modify it in order for it to offer the most benefit from the new 4.4 KitKat, and hopefully they are working to do just that. It could benefit us in a number of ways beside taking advantage of the newer OS - it could make TouchWiz smoother, faster, and less of a burden on the resources of the device.
Let us know in the comments or on Google+ if you are ready and waiting for your Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade on your Samsung device. I have the Galaxy Note 3 and I cannot wait to be running the latest and greatest from Google, and I am also hoping that Samsung does a little work on TouchWiz, as well - what a great belated Christmas gift...new TouchWiz with 4.4 KitKat.
