Another day, another rumor. This time it's coming out of a source familiar with Google, which has told TechRadar that the much anticipated Nexus 5 is going to be announced and start shipping in the last week of October. The Nexus 5 will also be "half the price" of the iPhone 5s, which should make the Nexus 5 land around $446 US. Which is almost $100 more than the Nexus 4 was sold at. Of course that's Euro's to US dollar, so it could be a bit cheaper. This would put the Nexus 5 right in line with Google's low-price, high-performance smartphone trend they have started with the Nexus line.
The source was referring to UK shipping, which should mean we'll see an international launch of the Nexus 5. Especially since we are already in October and it has yet to be announced. Then there's the part about the rumor saying "match the iPhone 5s", wait what? That leaves us wondering if Google is adding a fingerprint sensor, maybe 64GB of storage, maybe the same specs as the iPhone 5s? Who knows. It's very unclear right now what the source meant by that. Although, if Google does go with the low-end specs, it would make sense since the Moto X has "mid range" specs and still performs pretty well. So it could turn out to be a "see specs don't matter" type of thing for Google. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
Right now, the rumor is that the Nexus 5 will be announced along side KitKat, and the Nexus 10 on October 14th. Right now that's not confirmed. But that's about all we have to work off of. Judging from previous years. I'd expect the announcement somewhere between October 14th and 31st. With it launching between October 31st and November 15th. Of course, Google could decide to change things up and release it after the holidays. But I don't think that's likely.
