Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is live and active and can be purchased online or in Verizon stores. It will set you back $299.99 with a two-year contract, $0 Down and $29.31 a month via Verizon’s Edge Program, or $699.99 off-contract. Expensive, yes, but considering the upgrades over the Galaxy Note 2, such as a Full HD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB of Internal Storage, and larger battery, Samsung has kept the price the same – and if you use the “VERIZON30” discount, you can save yourself a whopping $90!
Of course, Verizon and Samsung will try and convince you that the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is the “perfect companion” to your Galaxy Note 3, and that may be true for a lot of people – take a look at the Galaxy Gear, play with it at the store, and then decide if it is right for you. The Galaxy Gear will set you back an additional $299.99, so your visit to the Verizon store could get quite expensive, very quickly! I know several people that have purchased the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear Combo and they are loving it, but others, like myself, are going to wait until the next rendition – the Galaxy Gear 2.
The Galaxy Note 3 actually does set itself apart from its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 2, in a number of ways. Samsung really did change the look and feel of the device by simply changing the back cover from the shiny, slippery, polycarbonate (high-grade plastic) material to faux leather (also made of plastic) – it just gives the Note 3 a “special” look and feel when compared to its predecessor. They were also able to increase the screen size from 5.5 – 5.7-inches, yet make the phone slightly thinner. Samsung also increased the battery size from 3,100mAh to 3,200mAh and yet made the phone thinner, 9.4mm to 8.3mm, and lighter, 183g to 167g! All subtle changes, yet they make the interaction feel completely different, in a very good sort of way.
The S-Pen 3.0, in the Galaxy Note 3, has really matured into an amazing instrument – Samsung continues to add features with each of the Note series smartphones, and the third try was spot on for adding true productivity to the user experience. Air Command makes using the S-Pen like it was a natural extension of your thought process, allowing you to quickly jump into the five most popular functions or reasons to use it. Samsung has really made the Galaxy Note 3 a true productive tool for both the business or the causal user. Let us know in the comments if your picked up your Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy Gear and what you think about them.
