Samsung's Smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, Rumored to be Priced at Just $450?

We are literally minutes away from Samsung's IFA press event starting up. Well it's actually Unpacked 2013: Episode 2. At said event, we are expecting Samsung to tell us how well the Galaxy S4 family has sold since April, we are also expecting them to show off the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear, which is their smartwatch.

A new rumor about the Galaxy Gear has just popped up. It appears that the much anticipated smartwatch with just 10 hours of battery life is going to go on sale for 500,000 won, which works out to about $450 USD. That's pretty pricey for a smartwatch. Hell, the Nexus 4 was $100 less at launch. This is all coming from a Korean site, so they are probably right on the money. But I'm seriously hoping they are wrong. If this is the real price of the Galaxy Gear, I doubt it's going to sell well at all.

Although, as Sammobile points out, the pricing does match what their insiders told them before. Well kind of. They were told anywhere from $249-349. Another thing to take into account is that the prices in South Korea are normally higher anyways. So we're likely to see a reduced price by the time it hits the US, and other markets. As we said already, we're very close to the unveiling of the device, so we'll know more very shortly and we'll be covering the event live. So make sure you stay tuned.

I have to say, while the Galaxy Gear seems like a great concept. Especially for checking notifications or the time without pulling out your phone, I'm not sure I'd use it all that much. So I'm actually more excited for the Galaxy Note 3 from this Unpacked event in Berlin this afternoon (or morning depending on your time zone). Which device is everyone else the most excited for? Don't forget you can watch the live stream of the event from the video down below.
