Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini for Only $.99 on AT&T Starting September 27

As we reported last month on the rumor that the Galaxy S3 Mini was headed to AT&T, the wait is over.  If you have been waiting to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (I’m sure that the line will be long!), your wait is over as AT&T made the announcement today that you can pre-order on September 19 for a September 27 launch – and all of this for only $.99 on a two-year contract. You may wonder why AT&T would choose to carry a device that was launched close to a year ago, but Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T had this to say:

Our Galaxy family continues to grow and we’re excited to offer the Galaxy S III mini as an option for customers seeking a premium smartphone experience at an outstanding value, all on the nation’s fastest, most reliable 4G LTE network.

The Galaxy S3 Mini is a full-featured 4G LTE smartphone that sports a 4-inch display, a real sweet-spot for many users that do not like the larger screened phones and also allows for easy one-hand use. It seems the trend is to go to a larger display, but for many they are simply too large for smaller handed individuals.  Below is a list of the S3 Mini’s specs, and while they are not up to its big brother, the Galaxy S3, specifications are great for a $.99 smartphone:

  • 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8/16GB Internal Storage with microSD slot (up to 32GB)
  • 5-megapixel (rear) camera with Auto Focus and LED flash and a VGA FFC
  • Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • Dimensions: 121.55 x 63 x 9.85 mm
  • Weight: 111.5g
  • NFC capable
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
  • Network: HSPA 14.4/5.76 900/1900/2100 & EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900
  • 1500mAh battery

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini also has many of the favorite Galaxy features, such as, S Beam to share files by simply tapping two S Beam devices together. Secondly, it has S Voice that allows you to use your voice to unlock the phone. Smart Stay is also included, this allows the S3 Mini to track your eyes, and as long as you are looking at the screen, it will keep it lit. Motion and Gestures provides you with many shortcuts to make using the S3 Mini even easier and faster.  These and many more features make the Galaxy S3 Mini a terrific buy at $.99 – let us know if you will be headed over to AT&T to pick up one of these bargains.
