We all love to have our friends join in on the fun, take interest in our interests and generally just be you know, friends. Well, if you're a Google Glass explorer and you have some friends with a lot of spare cash, you can invite them to the party that is beta testing Google Glass. As Android Police is reporting, select Glass Explorers are getting e-mails letting them know how they can invite their friends to the party.
It would seem that you still have to be an US resident - and here I am in the UK, Glassless - and you need to be located near San Francisco, New York or Los Angeles, much like the original Explorer Program. To us, this looks very much like more of an extension of the Explorer Program than anything else. When you think about it, asking explorers to invite friends is a great idea. They might have already been exposed to the technology and the chances of finding tech-savvy friends of people with Google Glass are pretty high, no?
The Explorer Program looks to be reaching out to their testers to keep people engaged and make sure that Google are getting as much feedback as possible. I've long thought that the Explorer Program is one of the best ways to be beta testing a platform like this. Sure, it's pricey but that means you're going to get a certain set of people and of course, only those truly interested in such a product would want to part with so much cash. Of course, we're not Explorers so we have no idea what it's like to own or to live with Glass but, thanks to the information that's constantly hitting the Web, we're getting a pretty decent idea.
I guess Explorers now have the tough question of wondering which of their friends they'd like to invite to join in the fun. Who would you invite?
