We’ve seen very few leaks about the Optimus G2. But LG has just sent out some emails to press to save the date for August 7th in New York City. They are calling it an “International media event” so it might be larger than just a US event. But we’ll have to wait until August 7th before we know for sure. LG provided not much else in terms of details. It looks like we’re getting some new hardware from LG in August though.
Not too long ago, LG confirmed that their Optimus G2 would be powered by the Snapdragon 800 chip. But we’ve also heard that LG will not be naming their high-end devices “optimus”. That instead that is going to be reserved for their low-end and mid-range devices. So we’ll probably be seeing the Optimus G2, but it probably won’t be named the Optimus G2. Either way, it’s probably a Snapdragon 800 device coming soon.
The Optimus G was a huge success for LG, in fact the Nexus 4 we all know and love was based off of the Optimus G. Then there was the Optimus G Pro which was their 5.5-inch device which I reviewed a few weeks ago and basically fell in love with. LG has had a bad track record for putting out subpar devices, but in 2012 and now 2013, LG has really turned it around and they’ve definitely impressed me. They also have me excited for their future, even though I love HTC devices, I definitely have my eye on LG.
We’ll be covering this event like we do every other event and hopefully we’ll get the Optimus G2 or whatever it’s called. Until then, get ready for lots of rumors.
