For a long time now we've been hearing about the Butterfly S, a follow-up to last year's HTC Butterfly but, not necessarily a true successor. It's beginning to look like the Butterfly S is to be some sort of joining of key features from the HTC One and the original Butterfly. Thanks to VR-Zone some of the first leaked shots of the Butterfly S have surfaced – as you'll see above – and for all intents and purposes, the device looks very similar to the original.
One thing is noticeably different however, and that's the inclusion of two speakers on the front of the device. This pretty much gives the game away, and tells us that HTC are bringing BoomSound to their Butterfly S. As well as this, the leaked images show BlinkFeed, a large feature of Sense 5 that debuted with the One. It makes sense for HTC to bring some key features of the One to other products but, we just hope that this doesn't mean they're going to leave the Butterfly, the Droid DNA or indeed any of last year's One Series in the dark when it comes to software updates.
In the above images, you can quite clearly make out red accents surrounding the speaker grills – a feature that was prominent in the Droid DNA. While there's nothing to suggest that the Butterfly S could become a Droid DNA+ of sorts, it wouldn't be the first time that Verizon have introduced incremental and direct follow-ups to their devices. Although, with the HTC One hitting Big Red later this summer, it'd be a strange move for them but, also an obvious holiday push for the network and HTC.
As far as the Butterfly line goes in Asia, it's a big hit for HTC and if launching different devices for different regions is the key to the Taiwanese company enjoying success, then good for them. Would you like to see this turn into a Droid DNA+? Let us know in the comments!
