There's been a lot of drama surrounding Twitter in the past 6 months or so. Mostly to do with their API changes, which has forced most people to go ahead and use the official Twitter app. Including myself, who has hated the official app for a long time, but it recently has gotten much better. But luckily the API changes haven't scared all the developers away. In fact there's a new app available called Hootie.
Hootie is a new app that follows the Holo guidelines, which means it looks nice! It features some great features like integrating large images into your Twitter stream. Easy navigation using the navigation drawer, beautiful interface which is optimized for phones and tablets. You can direct message easily, ability to send a tweet while still viewing tweets or scrolling through the news feed as well as tweeting pictures. Hootie also offers full search hashtags, users and keywords.
Hootie also has all the normal Twitter features, and it looks great on tablets. Many Twitter apps don't look to good on tablets, but that's where Hootie excels. The interface is really easy to use and intuitive, which is always really good to see on new apps.
Hootie is available now for most devices (it's compatible with all my devices, phones and tablets alike) from the Play store, which you can grab by hitting the button down below. Hootie is available for devices running Android 2.3.3 – Gingerbread and above. It weighs in at about 2.4MB which is pretty small, even for a Twitter app it's pretty small in size. So for those with limited space, you'll love this app. Right now it's sitting at a 3.9 Star Rating on the Play Store. How many of you have checked Hootie out already?
