AT&T’s Galaxy S II Finally Get Jelly Bean Update

It’s taken a very long time but, the update to Android 4.1 has finally AT&T’s Galaxy S II. The build number will be brought up to I777UCMD8 and this is going to be mostly an under-the-hood type of update. TouchWiz has changed very little since the Ice Cream Sandwich update but, you’ll get to enjoy some of the more advanced features Android has to offer, such as Google Now and of course, expandable notifications. The update should be available both as an OTA update and through the never-ending nightmare that is KIES.

Sony’s Xperia Z to Get Android 4.2 Update Soon

The Xperia Z is one nice device and while we didn’t find it perfect in our review, it’s a good device nonetheless. Unlike flagships from Samsung however, the Xperia Z is living in the past a little bit and is still running Android 4.1. That might soon change however, as word is that Sony are very close to unleashing a 4.2 update for the device. A number of new firmwares have been found lurking around in the wild, with one of them swapping to a “10.3-” version numbering, that differs from the “10.1-” scheme we’re used to. This suggests that Sony is ready to make a big bump in their software – let’s just hope it’s Android 4.2!

Verizon’s Galaxy S III Getting Update Fix Shortly

Galaxy S III users on Verizon got some good news, and some bad news not too long ago. With the update that brought with it multi-window and a whole raft of other updates and fixes, there were also some issues that slipped through the net as well. Some users have been reporting connectivity issues and abnormal battery life. Don’t worry though – Verizon has heard you and there is a fix on its way, just when isn’t clear but we doubt Verizon will leave you hanging too long. Here’s Verizon’s statement on the matter:

“A software update was recently pushed to the Samsung Galaxy S III, and while a majority of customers downloaded and installed the update successfully, a small number were negatively impacted. As a result the software update push has been postponed as a precaution for customers. We will notify them when a new software update is available for download.”

For those of you out there with the QWERTY-slider that is the Pantech Marauder, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a new software update out of the device. Don’t get too excited though, this is more tweaks and changes than it is anything else. The software is brought up to version S910LVWD533F.D1 and you can take a look at the changelog here.
