It's been a while since we saw a release like this from LG here in the States, now the Optimus G Pro is here, albeit for those on AT&T. It's a bit of a shame that this is only available through Ma Bell but, we suppose it's good that the device has made it Stateside at all at this point. The South Koreans have been enjoying this phone for some time now and finally, it's our turn. At 5.5-inches there are no rewards for guessing which smartphone this is obviously going up against. The Galaxy Note II has been out for a while now and Optimus G Pro does have better internals and a much better display, but does it take as good an advantage of that extra screen real estate like the Note II does?
The lack of an active stylus like the Note is bound to hold this back but, the device does have a lot to offer. Take a look at the specs below:
- 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920—1080 resolution)
- 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- 2GB or DDR RAM
- 32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card slot
- 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.1MP front-facing camera
- 3,140mAh battery
- Android 4.1.2 - Jelly Bean
- 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4mm dimensions
So, the Optimus G Pro certainly has enough to help it keep with the likes of the Galaxy S 4 and the HTC One but how will it stand up against the Galaxy Note III? These large devices aren't for everyone so, it might be difficult for LG to sell this without an added value like the S Pen. Regardless, it's up for grabs from today at AT&T for $199.99 on a two-year plan or for $549.99 outright. Depending on how good coverage on AT&T is near you, this might be a smartphone to look out for.
Is the Optimus G Pro a device you're looking at buying or, are you holding out for LG to deliver a true successor to the Optimus G? If so, you might want to hold off until the end of this month, to see what LG have planned.
