LG's "Imagination Begins" May 30th; Possible Optimus G2 Announcement?

We've been hearing a lot of whispers concerning LG's next move in the smartphone arena, and they've just recently launched the Optimus G Pro on AT&T. LG seem to be busy but, just what are they up to now? Well, judging from the press invite above, it would like it has something to do with the Optimus G, after all you don't present the word "Imagination" with a G like that in everyday life, now do you?

The invite above doesn't give us too much to go on, it suggests that LG are going to announce another smartphone of sorts and that the display is going to be at the focus of it. With Samsung continuing to use their Super AMOLED technology, it wouldn't surprise us if LG had some specialized IPS panel to show off. Everyone else is using IPS displays these days and LG will want to debut some sort of technology to have them stand shoulders above the rest.

If LG are going to announce a new smartphone, there is a good chance that they'll be announcing the Optimus G2, we've seen what could be a variant for Sprint recently and LG have yet to announce a follow-up to last year's Optimus G. Sure, the Pro is a great device but, we doubt that LG are going to position a 5.5-inch device as their flagship model, it's certainly not a size for everyone.

The Optimus G2 has been rumored for a while now and it's a safe bet that the device will be shipping with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 CPU and a 1080p display. While the 800 is not yet available in any other smartphone, it has been spotted doing the benchmark tour in an LG device and is said to be capable of running at speeds up to 2.3 Ghz. That would make the Optimus G2 a very speedy device, as well as the first device to ship with such a processor.

Could LG be the first to market with the Snapdragon 800? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
