Ingress Hits v1.26 - Brings Portal Health, Notifications, Support for Jarvis Virus and More

Today, the team over at Niantic Labs pushed out a new update for the popular closed-beta game, Ingress. Don't get too nervous, the team didn't take away any features, but the did add some cool new features to the app. Here's what was added to the game:

  • Portal health and faction control info on Portal Keys in the Inventory carousel.
  • Android Notifications for "Portal under attack," "Portal neutralized," and "@<codename>" messages.
  • Support for Jarvis Virus and ADA Refactor objects.
  • New Recharge visual animation.

The new notifications is probably one of the more popular new features or changes in the game. It's going to become a whole new game now since you can get a notification when your portal is under attack. Instead of just getting a ton of emails after your resonators are gone.  But the Portal Health and faction control on portal key cards are definitely going to be something everyone will see. That will definitely help us in linking and taking over portals. Additionally, the Jarvis Virus is something that Niantic had started earlier this month, and it will flip an infected portal to the opposing faction. Which is pretty cool.

You can download today's update from the Play Store at the link down below. This brings the app to version 1.26. So far we haven't heard any bad things about the update, so you should be okay to update to it.

How many of you are still looking for an Ingress invite? Hopefully Niantic will make the game open beta real soon. There's also been rumors of it hitting iOS, but I don't expect that to happen while it's still in closed-beta. What faction are you representing? Let us know in the comments down below and Viva La Resistance!
